The development of High-Intensity Laser Therapy (HILT) has been shown to dramatically improve on-field and on-court performance among all classes of athletes by actively reducing pain and stimulating healing. 1 The use of HILTs is already gaining traction within professional sports and is being added to rehab regimens.
“Since starting with the laser, I have had some outstanding results in being able to get our athletes back to the game and practice.”
Chuck Mooney – Head Trainer, Toronto RaptorsIn sports, injuries to knees, elbows and ankles are some of the most common injuries types that keep athletes off the field and reduce individual and team performance. As dramatically as sports medicine and fitness regimens have improved rehabilitation and shortened recovery times, the challenge of immediately addressing sprains, muscle tears and other nagging sports injuries remains. Over the course of a season, persistent injuries can lead to reduced performance and increase the chances for recurring or even greater injury as well as lost time among athletes.
The key to overcoming the injury/ recovery challenge is providing athletes additional time to heal or by accelerating the time it takes an injury to heal. This technique allows athletes more time to heal without missing games/ practice, something that is often not feasible with fixed playing schedules and extended seasons.
The key to significant on-field performance enhancement lies in speeding up the time it takes athlete's injuries to heal. High Intensity Laser Therapy has a consistent, clinical history of improving healing and reducing recovery times.
The Class IV Medical Laser (HILT) Treatment Advantage
Sprains, muscle tears, sciatica pain and arthritis are a few of the common ailments athletes face over the course of a season and over the course of a professional career. With High-Intensity Laser Therapy, trainers are provided a new and accelerated treatment option for prevention and recovery.
HILT is ideal for in-season treatments. Incorporating Laser Treatment into the routine rehab and recovery regimen for athletes provides the opportunity to speed up the recovery and gives added time needed to recover from persistent injuries and try both conservative and aggressive HILT treatment sessions between games.
“Our (HILT) system is extremely helpful returning our players as quickly and safely to the field of play.”
David Price – Head Athletic Trainer, New York Jets
Next Generation Class IV Medical Grade Lasers (HILT)
A significant advantage of HILT is that it is non-invasive nor will cause injury to the skin, provides a warming sensation and improved blood flow (via Photobiomodulation) that reduces area inflammation. The challenge in properly utilizing Laser Therapy is knowing the proper wavelength and strength needed to stimulate an athlete's healing and recovery.
Fortunately, the next generation of high-intensity laser therapy systems come equipped with stronger continuous wave (CW) and greater Watt capacity needed to increase the depth of healing and shorten rehabilitation session times.
Our Laser Advanced HILT Lasers also come equipped with improved software solutions of 60+ preset protocols that make it easy for sports trainers to administrator a treatment session without the need for special certifications or extensive instruction.
We were introduced to the high intensity laser midway last season and it immediately became an integral part of our treatment options with the Cincinnati Bengal's. It made our low-level laser virtually obsolete…Its sleek design and fool-proof applications makes it easy for any health care professional to bring state of the art therapy into their office.
